The St Ayles Skiff is 22ft, with a beam of 5'8", and will have a crew of four oarsmen or women, with a coxswain steering and co-ordinating the crew. Races are intended to be community events and categories will include mens open, womens open, mixed, juniors, veterans, etc so volunteers of all sorts will be welcomed. Several skiffs have already been launched on the East coast, and races and regattas have been held throughout the summer. Despite thier skiff not being completed at the time, the Dunbar Coastal Rowing Club has already performed well using a borrowed boat, in last summers Eyemouth and North Berwick regattas, putting up a strong fight against the favourites from Port Seton in the final in Eyemouth.
